Check engine lights, or malfunction lights or engine performing badly can be quite frustrating. First they come on, then they go off, then it runs rough and then it doesn’t and just when you think everything is okay, it starts all over again! You think this a major problem, but not always. The malfunction indicator lights on a vehicle come on when the vehicles computer sees something out of range. The computer is constantly monitoring many aspects of your vehicle systems. The computer management is a very complex system. The light is informing you that the vehicle has encountered a problem with the computer management systems.

Once the light comes on a diagnostic trouble code is stored in the computer’s memory. Retrieving this numeric code will tell our technician which system the computer saw a problem with. Many people believe that it will tell you what the problem is; well it does not say what is wrong with the vehicle. It is only the beginning of the diagnostic procedure. For instance a code might be set for insufficient EGR flow. This does not mean the EGR valve is bad. There are many reasons such as the control valves; intake ports being stopped, vacuum hose, or many other things.
The professionals at O’Neal Car Care have the proper diagnostic equipment and the latest technical information to properly take care of these problems. Our technicians also have ongoing training to keep up with the latest vehicle changes. There are no changing parts at your expense trying to fix the problem.
